The space we moved into on 64th and Marshal needed some work before we could get up and running. First we had to tear down some heavy-duty shelves built into the space. We used the wood from the shelves on some other projects around the space.
This week we built framed the walls to give a little extra support (a greenhouse is going to be built on top!). We built in a counter and two workbenchs, and brought in some shelves and an air compressor. Things are looking good! The wood we used to frame the walls is salvage from The Reuse People over in East Oakland. They specialize in deconstruction of houses, salvaging wood, windows, doors and other valuables which ensures less goes to the landfill and fewer trees need to be chopped down. Also they were super nice!
We also had a good time chatting with folks at last Saturday’s Barn-Raising fundraiser at the space. Looking forward to working with you all in the future!

UPDATE:
The Rally Cat has been postponed to April 16th, to allow the trails to dry out. Hope folks can make it out then!

The fine folks who run the East Bay Rally Cat are donating the proceeds from this Saturday’s race to Spokeland! It’ll be a fun mixed-terrain race…if you’re free this Saturday you should come out and get muddy and support us!

Great News! Spokeland has just moved into a space in North Oakland!
Our shop is located at 64th and Marshall, just one block west of San Pablo. The address is 1121 64th St, right on the border of Berkeley, Emeryville and Oakland. We just picked up our keys Thursday night, and will be announcing work days to get the shop set up soon. Stop by and say hi, check out what’s going on, and see how you can get involved! There’s a lot of positive vibes floating around this space and we are BEYOND stoked.
Now all we need is Volunteers. Do you have skills with a hammer or saw? Can you lift things or use a drill? Or maybe you like running events or want to volunteer to feed the builders. Maybe you don’t want to help us build anything but Bikes. Maybe you’re a workshop genius. Regardless of what your skills are, we need your help THIS MONTH. Please fill out the form below about what your availability is, what your skills are, or heck, what you want your skills to be, and we’ll be in touch with work dates and more information!
Please sign up to volunteer! https://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?formkey=dDdkelplcE50NWtCbVYySUF6ODJuSXc6MQ
