A big thanks to all who came out and made our Grand Opening a success. We had good attendence at our three workshops, and lots of folks came to check out the shop. We look forward to seeing you all in the future!
We’d also like to thank everyone who has helped make our shop a reality. Without the hard work and dedication of our many volunteers, we never would have made it this far. You’re the best!
We’re started holding open shop hours twice a week:
Wednesday: 3-8
Sunday: 12-5
We’ll also be open on the first Saturday of the month to participate in the Oakland Art Ride. Check out Rock Paper Scissors Collective for more information.

Spokeland’s Grand Opening is this Saturday!
It has been a long journey. Spokeland began as an idea in October of 2009. In 2010 we focused on building our organization and our “Love Your Bike” days as well as events such as Oaklavia. Now we are proud to announce the Grand Opening of our shop, located at 1121 64th st. in the Golden Gate district of Oakland.
Our shop is located within the larger collective “A PLACE For Sustainable Living.” We are really excited to be a part of this inspiring project. Luckily, our grand opening coincides with theirs. There will be a sampling of workshops focused on sustainability and self-sufficiency so if you come to the grand opening to check out Spokeland, you’ll get a peak into the amazing classes which will be offered at PLACE. Spokeland will run three workshops throughout the day. Between workshops please visit the shop – there will be mechanics and volunteers on hand to answer any questions you have about your bike. The grand opening will be a family friendly event, and there will be music and entertainment starting around 6:30.
Spokeland Workshops:
12 PM: Brakes workshop
3 PM: Shifting workshop
5 PM: Flat-Changing workshop
We are asking for a $5 donation to participate in a workshop, but no one turned away for lack of funds. The workshops will be held in, or immediately outside our shop. Once you enter the gate to PLACE, walk all the way to the back of the lot and you’ll be at the shop!
